Since winning Best Print Media in 2017, RTX Traveler and the team who produces it have gone through even more change, growth and improvement. The RTX Communications Team transitioned to Resort Hospitality Solutions, a company that leverages technology and industry experience to provide services to resorts and companies in the hospitality industry.
The RHS Communications Department continues to provide RTX and other companies a variety of communications and brand management services. Through this transition, RTX Traveler magazine has remained a point of pride for both the RHS and RTX teams and has continued to improve with each issue.
This quarterly magazine features one popular exchange destination, highlighting attractions, activities, tours, restaurants, insiders’ tips and more. Featured destinations in our 2017 issues included Branson, Missouri, Orange Beach, Alabama, Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Breckenridge and Granby, Colorado.
At the time of this writing, we are putting our finishing touches on the first issue of 2018, which features Cancun, Mexico, and is slated to be one of our best yet. Our second issue of 2018 will mark the 20th issue milestone. Additional articles throughout each issue relate to a theme of the featured destination and provide ideas for even more RTX vacation options. This structure of the magazine not only promotes multiple RTX destinations but also gives members ideas and inspiration for how they can spend their exchange vacations.
Member education is important to RTX, and the magazine has several areas that focus on that. Reminders about deadlines and reservation windows, information about different levels of membership, and details on how to utilize benefits beyond exchange such as booking hotel stays, car rentals and cruises can all be found in the pages of RTX Traveler. Guest articles and ads from affiliate companies and owner-focused industry organizations give members even more insight into the industry, with the goal of making them more educated, and thus, happier members.
RTX Traveler is the primary means of printed communications and member information for RTX members. Two issues per year are mailed directly to more than 30,000 Premium and Premium Plus members. The other two issues are mailed directly to 23,000 Premium Plus members. There is an additional readership of more than 30,000 per issue each quarter as hard copies of each issue are distributed to eight affiliated sales sites and 23 resorts affiliated with RTX and are placed in each resort unit and made available in all public areas of the resorts and sales centers. The team that produces the magazine combines their individual skills of editing, writing, photography and graphic design to create a well-thought-out, informative and visually stunning publication with the guidance of the leadership at RTX as well as the Travel Consultants who interact with members daily to help shape the content of the magazine to best serve RTX’s members. The content of the magazine not only gives members ideas for new places to travel and vacation through RTX, but also helps them understand their benefits how to maximize their membership. It’s a means for communicating member news, updates or reminders and it’s a benefit for members that provides useful, relevant and entertaining content.
RTX Traveler promotes the RTX brand and supports the sales and marketing message for potential members. Our affiliated sales centers use the magazine as the primary tool for promoting RTX when selling affiliated vacation club memberships. Each issue includes pages that specifically highlight RTX’s different levels of memberships and their benefits.
RTX Traveler is also useful to our Resort Partnerships team. When seeking partners in resorts, management companies and HOAs, RTX Traveler is not only an example of a benefit their members and owners will receive but is also a way RTX can highlight preferred resorts and affiliates. In addition to being a well-designed magazine with high-quality original content, RTX Traveler is a valuable tool for members, sales and marketing teams and RTX’s resort support staff. It not only promotes timeshare destinations but also acts as an educational and informational tool for members and affiliates.
RTX Traveler is designed and written completely in-house at RHS for RTX, and is printed and distributed by a local printer in Asheville, N.C., where both RHS and RTX are based. RTX Traveler magazine is successful in promoting the RTX brand and supporting our sales and marketing teams while providing useful information and entertaining content to members.
